  • Public consultation by INDOTEL

    The Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) has opened a public consultation on the general
    telecommunication law 153-98.

    The targets of the consultation are, to modify the law to increase its overall accessibility as well as adding the latest technologies to it.

    The consultation is open to all interested parties and will be opened until May 31st, 2021.

  • Modification Allocation Plan

    Indotel paves the way for 5 GHz 

    The Telecommunication authority of the Dominican Republic, announced within the decret 91-20 the modification (4th of March 2020) of their frequency allocation plan (PNAF), following the Executive branch recommendations published in resolution 011-20. Within the updated allocation plan the frequency range 3 300 - 3 400 MHz has been modified for the future implementation of the 5G band. This will strengthen the telecommunications sector as promoted by the ITU and make Dominican Republic ready for latest 5G services implementation and is an improvement of quality for telephone and internet services.

  • Homologation applications via web portal VUCE

    The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) informs that as of March 4, 2019, the certifications for Telecommunications Equipment Homologation will be processed only via the Single Window of Foreign Trade (VUCE). This will reduce paperwork, time, and paperwork, while at the same time making it easier for the applicants to track or status the applications.

  • Unreachable authorities

    It has not been possible to reach the Dominican authorities for the last 3 weeks (21-04), neither by email nor by phone. All messages sent to INDOTEL are currently bouncing back with following error message: "connection timed out". 

    INDOTEL website is not available either. 


  • Type Approval from now on mandatory

    INDOTEL, the Dominican Republic Regulator, informed that National Type Approval of Radio devices is now mandatory and not covered by FCC approval.

Description
The Type A electrical plug (or flat blade attachment plug) is an ungrounded plug with two flat parallel pins. Although the American and Japanese plugs appear identical, the neutral pin on the American plug is wider than the live pin, whereas on the Japanese plug both pins are the same size. As a result, Japanese plugs can be used in the US but often not the other way around. The pins on Type A and Type B plugs have a hole near the tip that fits into ‘bumps’ found on the contact wipers of some sockets, so that the pins are gripped more tightly allowing for better contact and also to prevent the plug from slipping out of the socket. Some sockets have spring-action blades that grip the sides of the pins, making the holes obsolete.

Description
The Type B electrical plug has two flat parallel pins and a round grounding (or earth) pin. The earth pin is longer than the other two so that the device is grounded before the power is connected. As with the type A plugs, the American and Japanese versions vary slightly. Type B plugs are rated at 15 amps.
